Isaiah described the Messiah's healing ministry in precise detail: blind, deaf, lame, and mute would all be healed.
Prophecy & Fulfillment
Old Testament Prophecy
Isaiah 35:5-6
"Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy."
New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 11:4-5
"Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.""
Commentary
When John the Baptist sent disciples to ask if Jesus was "the one who is to come," Jesus responded by listing miracles that directly echoed Isaiah 35. This was a deliberate messianic claim using the language of prophecy.
